SUMMARY:Grow a Garden Workshop Series: Container Gardening
DESCRIPTION:LEARN HOW TO CONTAINER GARDEN\n\n\n\nKPB recently got lots of seeds donated through a program sponsored by the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation\, Home Depot\, and Ferry Morse Seeds.  We are now offering a new educational series to teach you how to grow your own food\, with information on soil choices\, composting\, fertilizing\, plant choice\, container options\, and more.  We are applying for grants to fund this program\, so as funds are available\, we will provide all the materials for your new garden! We received our first grant from the Pickens Community Resource Association\, funded by the sales at The Community Thrift Store. \n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, you will learn how to garden in a container. This is an excellent option if you want to grow food but do not have the space. You can garden on a balcony\, inside your house\, or anywhere you can find the space. We will teach you how to get the most out of each container by using companion planting techniques and how to care for this mini garden. You’ll go home with the containers\, soil\, seeds\, and more to begin growing your own fresh food.  \n\n\n\nNo experience necessary.All ages.This is a FREE EVENT.

DESCRIPTION:We are hosting a Community Seed Swap at the Pickens County Library for everyone to come out and share their seeds with each other. \n\n\n\nDo you save seeds from your plants? Do you have extras from last years garden that you never planted? Did you buy too many and have some left over? Do you have seeds and want to share them? Join us at the seed swap!  \n\n\n\nBring seeds\, take seeds\, and meet other gardeners! Share tips\, ask questions\, be inspired. \n\n\n\nWe will provide envelopes to take seeds home with you\, with labels to fill out\, all you have to do is bring your seeds. \n\n\n\nDon’t have seeds but want some? DESCRIPTION:BUILD A RAISED BED\n\n\n\nRESCHEDULED FROM JANUARY 31ST (DUE TO WEATHER) \n\n\n\nKPB recently got lots of seeds donated through a program sponsored by the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation\, Home Depot\, and Ferry Morse Seeds.  We are now offering a new educational series to teach you how to grow your own food\, with information on soil choices\, composting\, fertilizing\, plant choice\, container options\, and more.  We are applying for grants to fund this program\, so as funds are available\, we will provide all the materials for your new garden!  You’ll go home with the containers\, soil\, seeds\, and more to begin growing your own fresh food. We received our first grant from the Pickens Community Resource Association\, funded by the sales at The Community Thrift Store. \n\n\n\nFor this specific workshop\, we will focus on building a new raised garden bed right here at the KPB Office. We will teach you how to fill the new bed with a special “lasagna layering” technique to set up the soil for a productive growing environment\, and we will also explain how and where to plant new seeds and seedlings. We will also build a trellis frame on the raised bed (time permitting). You will go home with a seed starter kit to grow your own garden with! \n\n\n\nNo experience necessary.All ages.This is a FREE EVENT.
