Adopt-A-Road
Working Together To
Keep Our Roadsides Clean
Our Adopt-A-Road program is effective thanks to the combined teamwork of our volunteers to keep Pickens County clean.
Unfortunately, litter ends up on our roads, whether intentional or accidental. Our AMAZING Team of AAR volunteers pick up hundreds of bags of trash along hundreds of miles of roads throughout Pickens County! Thank you!
Volunteers adopt a portion of a state highway or a section anywhere on a county road. Groups or individuals agree to designate at least four days each year for improving their assigned adopted site. Signs are erected at each location to inform the public of the group or individual’s name and community involvement.
Do you want to join the AAR Team?
This is how it works:
1. Fill out a request form (below)
Complete the form below and let us know what road you’re interested in. Once we confirm it’s available, we will send you an Adopt-A-Road Program Agreement.Â
2. Complete the Adoption Agreement
Once your requested road is confirmed to be available, we will send an Adopt-A-Road Agreement. Send us a completed and signed agreement, and we will issue your ID card and other materials. The Pickens County road department will hang signs designating your adopted road.Â
3. Submit your Collection Stats to KPB
We ask that you pick up your roadsides at least 4 times per year, but you’re welcome to do more! Please submit your collection stats to KPB – this is very important so we can report our numbers to the county and to Keep America Beautiful. (An online login is now available, so you can report your pickups online!)Â
4. Feel Good!
It is unfortunate that people litter our roadsides, but we’ve accepted that it’s going to happen… It’s up to us as a community to take care of this beautiful place where we all live together. Join AAR and know you’re making a positive difference!Â
