KPB Announces Environmental Poster Contest Winners

KPB poster contest winners 2019

Keep Pickens Beautiful works with our local schools and other youth programs to educate our kids about the importance of recycling and environmental stewardship. One of our programs is to hold an annual poster contest as part of the Great American Cleanup each April.

Keep Pickens Beautiful invited school children and youth to showcase their artistic talent and their commitment to the environment by participating in the Earth Day Poster Contest. This contest is sponsored by the Keep Pickens Beautiful Committee and the students of Pickens County. This poster contest helps to achieve our goal of higher excellence in recycling, reducing, and keeping Pickens County litter free. The slogan was presented by elementary students at Harmony Elementary School. Douglas Hodge’s slogan “Don’t Litter Reconsider, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” was voted as the most popular and was used in the contest.

The posters were grouped in one of the following categories for judging: Elementary, Middle School, Junior High, and High School.

The students have an understanding of the importance of keeping our air clean, recycling, and keeping our county litter free. We are fortunate to have so many caring teachers and students supporting this effort.
