Learn about River Cane with Dr. Russell Cutts

July 8, 2025 @ 7:00 pm 8:00 pm

Have you ever heard of River Cane, our native “bamboo” that used to cover over 10 million acres across the US? Rivercane is one of four native North American woody grasses in the Arundinaria genus, which has been unfortunately decimated in recent history, now covering only 2% of its natural area. We are hosting Dr. Russell Cutts on Tuesday, July 8th, to learn about River Cane, an important wildlife habitat to the ancient, 400lb Giant Beaver, and a resource which also holds cultural significance to many Indigenous peoples. He will also be sharing information on how we can revitalize its habitat and save the River Cane species!

The talk will be hosted at the Old Mulehouse, in the back gathering room, starting at 7pm. This talk will directly follow our monthly Board meeting, which occurs at 5:30-6:30pm. If you are interested to sit in and listen to all the exciting things KPB is up to, please come as a guest to our meeting, and stay for the River Cane talk which follows. We hope to see you there!

This is a FREE event.
