KPB Projects and Programs

KPB sponsors and supports many projects and programs in our community to enhance the beauty of our county, improve waste management, and promote environmental stewardship.  We have been serving Pickens County for more than 30 years, and look forward to continuing to work with residents, governmental entities, businesses, and organizations. Come join us! You’ll learn something new, you’ll meet new neighbors, you’ll help your community, and you’ll have fun!

The Adopt-A-Road program is one of KPB’s oldest and most successful. Each year, our amazing Team picks up hundreds of bags of trash from hundreds of miles of roadsides! Hopefully you’ll join our Adopt-A-Road team!

Green Ribbon and Green Thumb Awards are given to a selected individuals, groups, clubs or businesses in Pickens County in recognition of outstanding examples of a program, project or activities that protect or enhance our community’s environment through promotion, support or furtherance of the goals of KPB. Green Ribbon is usually awarded to a businesses for their beautification efforts and environmental stewardship, while Green Thumb is usually awarded to an individual or family for their beautification efforts. Keep Pickens Beautiful is dedicated to reducing trash headed to the landfill. We help provide resources and knowledge to local residents, businesses, organizations, and community events. We focus on the three key factors: convenience, communication, and cause (getting people to understand the many benefits of recycling and why they should care). Do you need help with your recycling efforts?

‘Beautification’ covers a wide range of initiatives, but essentially, we’re working to help maintain and add to the beauty of Pickens County. This includes mural installations, Edible gardening projects, and more! We have many ongoing projects and we could use your help!

Keep Pickens Beautiful sponsors and participates in a variety of events throughout the year. These events provide opportunities for community members to learn about KPB, they help reduce the waste headed to our landfills, and they also help beautify our county. We offer a variety of educational programs throughout the year. We also work directly with the public school system, youth groups, other community organizations, and more.

Edible Pickens is a program under the Beautification umbrella, but it’s also educational and is rapidly growing throughout Pickens County. The focus of Edible Pickens is to beautify our community using edible and sustainable plants. This will minimize labor while also educating the community about permaculture and foodscaping.
